Standard Sequence

General donning order

Follow the procedure-specific instructions below and any isolation or exposure-control sequence required by clinic policy.

01Hand Hygiene

Begin with clean hands and inspect all required PPE.

02Gown or Coverall

Secure full body and clothing coverage before other PPE.

03Mask or Respirator

Position securely and complete an N95 seal check when applicable.

04Eye & Face Protection

Position goggles or a face shield without interfering with respiratory PPE.

05Gloves

Place glove cuffs over gown or coverall sleeves when applicable.

!
Select PPE for the actual exposure risk.

No single PPE item provides every type of protection. A face shield does not replace a mask, a surgical mask does not replace an N95 when airborne protection is required, and a coverall does not replace gloves, eye protection, or respiratory protection.
